Apple, its servers and the erratic fight in the enterprise

Just the other day I learned that Apple is repeating history and will drop yet another server line, the XServe. Although the XServe lasted a long time, its demise shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone as throughout its history, Apple has never been able to properly step into the ring when it comes to servers, especially true enterprise-class, data center systems. It has tried many, many times, but the company seems to not know how to approach the fight when it comes to making things work behind-the-scenes.

Three Decades of Personal Computing

After looking through old MacUser and MacWorld magazines, I started to think about all of the systems I’ve used over the years. I’ve never worked with 9-track tape, but I have used 8” floppy disks and a standard 1/4” audio cassette deck as a tape drive. The world has come a long way in 30 years.
